'Wake up It's Christmas' is the new festive single by singer-songwriter, Gilly (aka: Michael John McElligott), the song was co-written by lyricist, Wal McConville, and producer, Andy Littlewood, and features Alisa Villegas & Malina MacDonald on backing vocals, and a choir made up of children from the Carrbridge Primary School and the Boat of Garten Deschar Primary School.
It all started for Gilly at the age of 17, playing guitar in the Scottish rock band, The Emeralds, who achieved success touring with big names such as Small Faces, Joe Cocker, The Who, Free, The Move, Hot Chocolate, and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. After the band split up he went on to perform with various bands including The Brothers Gilly, Ram, and Juncken. For the past few years Gilly has worked as a solo performer and session musician. In 2013 he featured as guest vocalist on the album 'One Horse Town' by Mockingbird Hill, and his song 'Transition Man' was nominated for best song at the 2013 British Blues Awards. Gilly is also a prolific songwriter and has recently written tracks for a number of recording artists such as Eva Carboni, Mick Simpson, and Liz Sykes.
